It is not a secret that our house could be either our safe place or our biggest nightmare, and the reason why could be this extreme opposite is because of most of the times homeowner aren’t aware of many hazards around their homes.

In this post, I would like to give you my top 5 tips to make your house a safe place for you and your family, remember that when you are purchasing a house you also are investing in your safety and future for your loved ones.

1-SMOKE AND CARBON MONOXIDE ALARMS

A smoke detector is a device that senses smoke, typically as an indicator of fire.

Commercial smoke detectors issue a signal to a fire alarm control panel as part of a fire alarm system. Household smoke detectors, also known as smoke alarms, generally issue an audible or visual alarm from the detector itself or several detectors if there are multiple devices interlinked.

The best is to place a smoke detector in each room and hallways, and carbon monoxide detectors around the kitchen and garage.

2-WINDOWS THAT ARE EASY TO OPEN FROM INSIDE OF THE HOUSE.

Sounds probably silly, but the reality is that most people never open their windows during the entire year, but still consume a handful of toxic products inside of their homes, like household cleaning supplies, scented candles, and store chemical products in the garage.

On the other hand, doing this will improve your indoor air quality, lowering electricity bills, and decreasing the drying time of the clothes which will extend the life of the dryer and your clothes.

4-CHECK FOR FRAYED ELECTRICAL CORDS

A frayed electrical cord hazard puts anyone who uses it at risk because frayed wires will expose electricity in dangerous ways.

When exposed wires are touched, electric shock occurs. The frayed cord should be repaired by a professional as it may not always trip a breaker, and could potentially start a fire.

Damaged electrical items can also present a hazard in homes hazard in homes. When a person touches an exposed electric cord, there is an additional hazard to the choking hazard and is the possibility of leading to a fire.
